Turn Your Photographs Into Art

If you’re like most people, at the end of every summer you’ll want to remember the wonderful vacation you took, the backyard parties and the family gatherings where everyone was finally in the same place at the same time. Of course, by the time all this fun is over, you’ll have lots of photographs documenting and preserving these moments and memories, but if these pictures simply sit on a computer or, worse, on a memory stick, what good are they?

One great way to preserve your memories and share them with your family and friends is to turn your photographs into art. While this can be as simple as printing out some photos and sticking them into a frame, there are so many other options that will look better and last longer.

Pay less…get less

As with almost everything, you can pay different amounts for what appears to be the “same” item but ultimately the quality and durability of the item will differ. This is also true when printing photographs. You can use a simple printer to save a bit of money, but your photographs will run the risk of smearing and fading over time.

Giclee is the best way

It’s best to look for a print shop or framing gallery that can print your photographs using the giclee method. Giclee printing uses oil-based inks and a spray technique that, unlike other mechanical printing, leaves no visible dot pattern, has better ink saturation and better maintains the tones and quality of the original photo. And best of all, giclee prints can be printed on paper or stretched canvas.

When you take your favorite photographs, if you print them using a quality printing method and use a reputable framer to print and finish them for hanging, you can easily turn your photographs into works of art.
