As a business owner, you may not be aware of what resources are available to help you in running your business. Whether it is information on expanding your business, opening a new business or financial assistance, the Georgina Chamber of Commerce is able to guide business owners in the right direction.
The role of the chamber is to serve as a resource for information on the various organizations that provide assistance that growing businesses need rather than the chamber providing the assistance. The web site, bizpal.ca, is an online source of information on permits and licenses required to start or grow a business. And the information is area specific – you enter the area where your business is located and it links you to the relevant departments and contacts.
Another source of help for businesses is the Southlake Community Futures Development Corporation. This organization offers a lot of free services, including how to write a business plan if you are applying to the bank for a loan for your business. The SCFDC also has loans and grants for businesses that qualify.
The Georgina Chamber of Commerce also refers business owners to the York Small Business Enterprise Center, a free service that is based in Newmarket. This organization can help your business in a number of ways, including how to get funding to expand, upgrade or improve your operations through private investors or banks.
In addition, the chamber is working out an arrangement with York Small Business Center to have a representative come the chamber’s office to meet with members. Business owners will be provided with guidance on how to go about creating a new look for their business or on how to market their business.
The Georgina Chamber of Commerce office at 430 The Queensway South in Keswick is a resource center for businesses. The focus of the chamber is to work with the businesses in the area to help them grow their business and make the connections they need to make and be competitive in a changing economic environment.
